Tenant Move-Out Checklist for Property Owners
A proper move-out process can help property owners assess the property’s condition, verify inventory, identify maintenance requirements and prepare the property for its next occupant.
Introduction
A planned move-out helps the owner and tenant agree on the condition of the property and any next steps before the handover is complete.
Walk through each room and compare the property with the move-in inventory or condition notes. Check keys, fixtures and appliances, document any visible damage or maintenance needs, and take dated photos where appropriate.
Record meter readings, confirm the return of keys and access devices, review outstanding rent or agreed charges, and note the status of the security deposit. Once the inspection is complete, organise repairs and cleaning before the next occupancy.
